Car went into limp mode possibly?
So tonight after washing my car I was leaving.. going down the road I got on it about 95% throttle and it loses power at 5k and then the tac slowly lowers then gains power back around 4k then again loses power.. except this time it goes all the way down to about 1.5k.. im wondering wtf... then 10 seconds later i start hitting the "rev limiter"... at 3k??!?! it sounded like i had 2 step.. something was definitely wrong. so i drive home, park it, open hood and check all connections (maf, intake leaks, etc..) and nothing. so i let it sit for about 10 minutes, get back in, crank it, and its fine..?
is there any explanation for this? i honestly have no idea what it could have been.
2004 70,000 miles
automatic transmission
full bolt ons - (no tune)
oil changed recently
had 1/4 tank of gas

My car would go into limp mode when I had my auto with my TT kit. The tranny would get too hot and the car would go into limp mode.
The gear selection on the gauge cluster would be blank even if you were in manumatic mode. The car would however stay in 4th gear. Take off from 4th gear and not shift out of 4th gear. It would take off slow until it built some rpms but would not go to redline. It was loud lol.
After I let the car sit for a while and the tranny cool back down it would be fine. But as Dave said you prob just got something wet.
But if you were sitting in a car wash, like an automated one and your car went into limp mode after you left, maybe it got too hot? Doubt this happened, but I guess if it was really in limp mode, it could be a possibility. I don't see why it would get so hot with just bolt on's though.
Just keep an eye on things.
