Default 05 DE cranks wont start

As the title states the car cranks and cranks but only starts on rare rare occasions. Has been fine up until today just out of the blue wont start. Fuel pump is working as I can hear it and it stinks like fuel. When it does fire it dies almost instantly. Car has no SES lights and when hooked up to cipher its showing that timing is only advancing 5 degrees. From what I was told it should be around 30. Im leaning towards a cam sensor but would appreciate some input from the brilliant minds here. Thanks in advance for the help.

Verify correct key or try second key. I switched up keys on a Z and a G cars they cranked just fine but would never start. Possibly bad chip in key.

Do a bench test on your CPS (your car should have picked it up if it's a bad CPS and thrown a code, so I doubt that's the problem). Could be a tank of bad gas. Did this happen shortly after filling it?

The gas is possible but I went through a half tank before the problem started, however, the shop I brought it too is going to test the fuel and probably purge the whole fuel system.
