Default Idle rattle from my 2008 HR

Folks, I have an 08 Nismo with 22K on the clock. It's recently developed a rattle (sounds almost like a diesel rattle) during idle (sometimes, it's loud, sometimes not so loud but still there). The weird thing is that it rattles in neutral but the rattle goes away once I press the clutch in.

My car's still under warranty (I think) since I bought it new in February 09 so before I endure the stealership, what could the problem be?

common problem..mine has it also..it is throwout bearing. you could have the tranny replaced under warranty but from everything i read it will come back..just no telling when.

That is really, really... awesome. I thought Nissan had solved all the problems of the VQ35 once the HR rolled out. I guess they were wrong. Oh, well, stealership, here I come!

Will do. How much do you all want to bet that the stealership will claim that the throw out bearing/slave cylinder is a wear item (not so) or that the problem was user error (not so since I don't DD the car nor have I taken it to the track) or otherwise have to do the warranty dance and get NNA involved?

That's come up before, and it was attributed to the dual-mass flywheel causing the input shaft and some constant mesh gears in the transmission to rattle. That's why the noise goes away when you disengage the clutch (push the pedal down).

The brand new MT 350Zs I drove made the noise, and it's considered normal.

I refuse to accept that it's normal. Another 2007 HR owner has almost double the mileage I have and he got the throwout bearing replaced years ago and his car hasn't made the noise since.

I hate to say it but not all vehicles are the same and that attitude isn't going to get you anywhere.

Refuse all you want. It's normal. My 2008 HR started making the noise when it hit 5,000 miles.
