No engagement till high RPM
So I've had my '05 350z for a few weeks, and I drove it fairly spiritedly for a while.
Now, I'll have the car totally in gear. (manual)
But when I'm at 1-5k rpm, the car will not move, but when I rev up to the redline it will finally engage in a less than elegant manner.
Is there anyone here knowledgeable enough to help diagnose this problem with me?

If i understand correctly, you're letting the clutch out in the normal manner while increasing the engine revs, and the clutch doesn't catch until the revs are very high. Then it engages suddenly with a jerk. Correct?
What happens when you let off the gas while the clutch is still engaged (pedal up)?
If the clutch continues to transmit torque, it's something in the pressure plate assembly or the hydraulic system that's keeping it from engaging until the high revs causes it to engage suddenly.
If it starts slipping again when you let up on the gas, the clutch is simply worn out.
I'm pretty sure the clutch pressure plate in the Z, like most others, is designed so the pressure on the disc increases as the revs go up. This is accomplished by utilizing the centrifugal forces on the diaphragm spring assembly when it's in the engaged position. That might account for the sudden engagement at high revs with the pedal up.
In either case I doubt the transmission is at fault, but you risk the chance of massive damage by repeatedly letting the clutch engage as you've described.

The clutch pedal can be completely out all the way. In any normal situation, my car will be completely engaged.
But it then requires me to rev the engine solely with the gas pedal to make the gears engage.

Have you tried the clutch slipping test? 60 MPH. 6th gear. Accelerate. What happens?
It has 105, so it's definitely been driven. But it's a very solid car in other every facet.
I'm gonna take it to the shop to get it looked at. Hoping insurance will be covering this one!

The reason why I said I hope insurance will cover this is because I bout buyers insurance when I bought the car privately. It covers most everything that can go wrong with the car for the next year. No trolling here guys...
I've never heard of buyer's insurance, but I suspect it's much like an extended warranty.
If it's not a complete scam, there will be lots of exceptions. The biggest exception is that they don't cover normal wear items, like the clutch. Hopefully your experience will prove me wrong.
