Default What causes my "loose" suspension feeling

My car has felt like this for some time. Certain roads i feel like the car is moving left and right under me while im driving straight and im not sure what causes it. The only way i can describe it is this sign, lol. Basically, im driving straight, but it feels like the wheels are doing this:

I know i need new endlinks and i have new sway bar bushings that i need to put on the rear but the nut is stripped so i havent had time to get it off.

My mods are eibach pro kit, tokico d-spec struts, hotchkis sways, solid diff bushing, and whiteline front lower translink bushings. The tires are fairly new but it did this before as well. I do not know a lot about troubleshooting suspension problems so im hoping someone may have a clear answer. hopefully its one of the things I already know i need to replace. One rear hub/bearing is practically brand new. Ive jerked on all the wheels and they do not feel like they have any play in them like the one that i had to replace twice last year.

Uneven roadways where grooves have been worn in by long term use without being fixed or repaved.

Alignment settings.

Bad suspension components. For example, bushings, ball joints, tie rods, struts, springs, etc.

what is LCA? my plan this winter was to re-do all bushings and go with whiteline or something comparable. but i just dropped a lot of money into swapping out my engine

i have 150k so im sure the bushings are worn out. i didnt know if this particular problem could be "narrowed down" or not by someone who has had the same problem.

edit, and i have had my alignment done 4 times until they got it right this year.

ah lower compression arm? is that the one that tears whenever you lower the car? i do plan on fixing that one as well with the solid one that jason used in his DIY

There is a reason none of your alignments worked.

Your bushings/lcas were shot.

I found this out by 110k miles.

Search LCAs on the site as there are a few writeups and diy.

If you have wider low profile tires, it could just be tramlining.

LCAs would be my 1st bet as well. When shopping for bushings, keep in mind that polyurethane (PU) bushings are stiffer than stock. If you're ok with sacrificing a little bit of comfort to get a better handling car, go poly for sure. They tend to last a bit longer as well.

yeah i def do not care about the stiffness. i drive my car to work with the same settings i use for autox. i thought about going with solid bushings in a few places where available just because my solid diff bushings already put me in SSM class for scca anyway.

Im going to replace the lca bushings first. thanks for the help.

What size tires are you running? When my car was stock , and still today, anytime i run a tire combo of equal or very close to equal in height my car gets really loose.

your mileage and lack of previous replacement says it all.

think of all that money wasted on alignments for a car that couldn't be aligned

I paid $20 for the alignment cause I knew the manager. The other 3 were free and I did it because of uneven treadwear. Treadwear has been good since so I don't think it was money wasted. I do,however, want to fix this problem as well.

I also had some weird issues and ended up getting my tires precision balanced with one of the laser balance machines. Fixed my problems..

So what size tires are you running. As mentioned above, anytime i run a square setup (non staggered in height) my car does the same thing. I believe its cause by the change is caster angle and the change is weight distro on the chassis.

Also the compression bushings will be trash. You mention using A6's, i highly suggest running the SPL monoball bushings. The replace the LCA bushing while your in the area.

Mine does this, but only on icy roads so I don't think there is anything wrong with mine.

my sizes on the street are 255/45/18 R and 245/40/18 F and A6's are 295/35/19 R and 285/35/18 F.

Im confused, i thought the compression bushings and LCA's are the same thing? I thought it was referring to the compression arm. I have changed my lower translink bushings out last year to whiteline and those are still fine. Less than 5k on them for sure.

this is what i will be doing next. https://my350z.com/forum/brakes-and-...g-install.html

with a set of rear bushings and front soon after if not during. because i knew the bushings are wore out. i just want to make sure that solves my swaying problem. Because i have been debating on endlinks first before the bushings. I want to fix my current problem before "upgrading" something.
