Hello all..
Ive searched, ive read the threads, ive read the links int he threads, ive googled for two weeks. Ive called manufactureres, aftermarket manufactureres, lightwerkz, cincity, retrofitsource.... Im tired of this and want some real world answers that hopefully one of you has.
I have 2006 Bi Xenon headlights.
They ahve been opened and modded.
Im redoing the mods now..
the UV layers are toast on them..BUT.. they are toast INSIDE AND OUT.
Both inside and out have had the uv layer compounded off.
I gave them to my buddy whgo does autobody to clean up.. he got the UV layer off w a buffer wheel.. but now they are swirled to hell and are also unprotected.
I need to know several things..PLEASE.
Im running out of time FAST.
--What can be done to my OEM lenses... keep in mind, i cant polish and buff and wax the inside monthly.. it has to be a longer term fix. Polish? Clearcoat iside and out w heat resistant uv clear? How long can i get out of this method? Will it look ok, or what will i notice.
--If the OEM lenses wont work, Ive thought of getting a set of Ebay DEPO brand lights and just yanking the lenses off them.. ppl tell me DEPO is molded very close to the OEM light in terms of the lens.. the plastic is cheaper but at least its clear.. has anyone actually DONE this? Also, if i do this, are the lense for an 03 the SAME internally as the 06 style? ALl that crap inside your light screws to the lenses before they are reassembled.. i need first hand knowledge from someone who has lense swapped please.
Help me out guys.. this sucks and im at a stand still... all the lens buff links, threads and local guys all have ZERO clue about what to do for the inside of the headlights, and no one has any clue on the lens swap info.

thank god..
that opens me up to using the DEPO lenses. Curious. is that what brand you used? Any pics by chance? ( I hear eagel eyes are a very different molding than oem)
Not only are you helping me out, but by adding to this thread, you're helping make the only thread ( that i can find) that deals with this stuff for our cars... so it will be searchable for others later on..
I hear the glue for the ebay versions aint as easy to get off as the NISSAN stuff.. waht was your experience? Id say PM me, but then its not in the thread for others to read later.. thanks for the reply tho man!! Im waiting with baited breath for the info fer sure!

these guys say they will ship one or the other depending on whats in stock nearest the shipping address.
Do you know if yours were depo?
I finally just jumped on a set of DEPO and i guess we will see.. for 175 shipped for a pair, not too an expensive mistake worst case.

^^ fer sure.. ill take a crap load of pics as always..
im curious if all the screw points are the same in side the lens.. the whole darn thing screws to the clear lens before you clam em back together.. so we shall see.. if not, ill fab something and show pics of that too.
The plastic itself will suck compare to OEM, but for 175 bucks, i can live w repacing every 24-36 months no sweat.. shes about to become a garage/trailer queen anyways. No more daily driving. l

Thanks to Guilty1s for the tip.. heres the proof for the rest of yal:
ok, ill post limited results.. im ALMOST done w the lights.. IM an idiot and was getting tired.. i wiped down everything in there w a tack cloth and alcohol.. except the frikin headlight lens, which is COVERED in fingerprints.. thus i will ahve to open them again to fix that.. FML.
I will however soon make an end all headlight mods thread.. lens swap, demon eyes, halos inside, halos outside, wiring, assembly and disassembly, the whole 100% 9 yards.
BUT for now... i can verify that for 170 bucks shipped, i bought the DEPO brand 03-05 Halogen headlights off of ebay.. the ones with the inside bezzels blacked out already ( well , halfway blacked out) swapped to my 06 OEM lights w full success, zero snags.
The lens shape is identical, the hardware points inside the lens and for all corners outside the lens are 100% identical... proud to say the swap was 100% success.
The lens is thinner plastic and will no doubt not last as long, but who cares.. to know i can yank my headlights and spend one evening in the garage and the kitchen swapping out lenses w new ebay Cheapos just to have 100% brand new lenses is a fantastic thing to know. Ive foudn nothing but speculation until the poster above (Guilty1s) verified he has done it.. but like me, i wanted pictures, and for the rest of you, well here you go, 03-05 halogen style depo headlights bolting up fully to my OEM 2006 headlight guts:
Heres the DEPOs I used:

heres the only external visible difference:

06 guts bolting right up nicely.. perfectly i should say.. very odd.. i wouldnt have expected it to be THIS dead on:

all screws mount uip nicely:

glady jacked this side mount to repair my broken fender tabs:

finished product ( SO FAR):

BE CAREFUL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
this glue is exactly the same as the Nissan OEM butyl rubber black goo of death.. and it heats up nicely.. but so does this cheap black housing plastic DEPO uses.
USE LOW HEAT LOW HEAT... i could smell the plastic degassing a bit when i took it out to break the depos apart..absolutley nothing melted this way tho.. youre on ur own to know the strength of your own oven tho. i read the other threads, and i used a hair UNDER 250 degrees for about 6 minutes.. checked them, and then did another 4-5 minutes. between 200-250, ten minutes.. mechanix gloves and a soft protective cloth or towel on your stove top to set it all on as you wrestle it and youre solid.
