Default Oil Sender Unit/Switch Question! '04 350Z

It's been a while since my last post and thanks to all for the great positive feedback I received on my "How To Repair the 5th Bow Motor Tutorial" I did!

I am now calling on you guys the experts once again.

The oil pressure gauge in my Roadster all of a sudden decided to go off the scale. Normally it sits below 60psi when idling, I know that it is usually higher when cold and also when you accelerate it can also increase. Anyway, the needle goes to the far right and sits there when I start the engine and sits there until the engine is warm, then drops down to 120psi (lol). My oil light is not coming on and the car has no strange noises or ticks, all sounds well, in fact I had the oil changed to make sure the filter didn't have a blockage. Nothing to be found, and the oil viscosity appeared to be pretty much normal.

So... I have come to the conclusion that most likely the oil sender/switch is messed up.

Now I know it is a super easy fix, but I want to know (after a great preface) if it is safe to drive the car like this? The reason for my concern is that the guy at the local garage said "You run the risk of the oil pressure sensor blowing out and having engine oil all over the place". Now as a somewhat educated individual even I feel that this is a somewhat far fetched scenario! However I just thought i'd ask if anyone had experienced this happening?

Cheers
BB

I would be concerned with low oil pressure not high. 9 out of 10 oil pressure is good - sending unit is broken.

BTW Nissan nixed oil pressure for the 370Z. Now you get oil temperature. Guess thats one way to fix sending unit problems.
