Default Window adjust, a way to disable this?

Hey guys,

I wouldn't think this is a common question, but is there a way to disable the auto adjust for the windows? I'm talking about when you open and close the doors the windows adjust to allow you to easier close the door.

My guess is there's no way, aside from just pulling the fuse....but if there is a way, I was thinking of doing it for the winter. I don't like when it freezes over and the windows try to open when I open the door. I try to stay away from touching the window controls when it's freezing out.

I was also thinking this "feature" could be a contributing factor to the common window motor problems these cars have. Since they are constantly in use every time you open the door.

take the screw out that's at the door sensor and it won't "auto adjust" anymore.

If your window is all the way up, you will scrape the roof when you open the door. The window goes down about 1/4" to provide clearance, not to make the door easier to close.

While i understand what you are saying, I don't think it scrapes at all. Seems to close perfectly fine when I have the battery unhooked and the window all the way up. I thought it was to lessen the vacuum or air pocket whatever you want to call it, so you can more easily close the door. Idk...

you can roll the window down just a little, about 1/4 inch and it will not auto rollup. if you get it in the right spot it will still seal good.. i always kept mine rolled down a little to keep the window motors from wearing out

Maybe Nissan is wrong, but on page 8-15 for the 2003 manual, the following warning is shown:

When the battery cable is removed from
the battery terminal, do not close either
of front doors. The automatic window
adjusting function will not work, and the
side roof panel may be damaged.

So I have always been leery of opening or closing the doors with the battery disconnected. Maybe you have been lucky, but there looks to be very little clearance when the window is all the way up.

I few months back I was doing some work in the car, had the passenger door opened, disconnected the battery, then proceeded to close the door because I had to go back inside the house....BAMMMM. The glass hit the door frame with a horrible sound. I'm really surprised it didn't break.

I had my windows tinted by a shop, and they pulled those screws out that I mentioned. My windows still cleared the pillar no problem, when I open and close the doors.

However, I'm pretty sure Nissan wouldn't put a warning in their book unless there was a reason too... It's probably happened before...
