RPM drops at higher gears
I have an 04 350z with about 72K miles on the motor, as of late I have notice that when I shift into 5th gear my RPMs drop and I seem to lose power. And s of today I could smell like something was burning like a gear. I recently changed my spark plugs and noticed that I had oil on two of the rear plugs closest to the engine firewall nearest the dash. The only mods I have on the car are AEM cold air intake, Kinetix plenum plus spacer, and full cat back exhaust with kinetix hi flow cats. In reading the threads I suspect that it is my clutch and flywheel yet the car still drives in other gears. I was also told that I do need to have the valve cover and seals replaced. Any insight or help is appreciated. Thank you.

which clutch?
Well when I shift into 5th and floor it the RPMs shoot up and the car barely moves forward, hesitates.Given that it sounds like it is my clutch, any recommendations? Most of the threads say to go with JWT clutch and flywheel, or are there any other ones I should consider.
Thanks
Thanks

oil on plugs in combustion chambers= possibly bad rings, not likely.
oil on plugs on the outside coil pack side= bad valve cover seals.
jwt combo is great.
i also agree its your clutch.
i also agree if you do what davidv said you will know for sure.

Above: A clutch that looks like the OEM clutch will perform similar to the OEM clutch. Manufactures generally refer to this as Stage #1. You can also call this clutch street friendly.
NOTE: If you are shopping for a flywheel and clutch, I recommend that you buy a flywheel and clutch from the same manufacture. They are designed and tested to work together.
