Default 2003 Top End Engine Noise (Video link)

Hi Everyone,

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=inWM6...ature=youtu.be

I have a 2003 Enthusiast that I've had since 2004 and recently I have heard a loud clicking/ticking coming from the top end of my engine. The engine has 110K miles on it and the video was taken after I changed the oil and ran the car. The noise frequency increases as the engine is accelerated. I haven't seen any dramatic drop-off in performance. I am hoping there is another thread addressing this issue that I couldn't find or if searching to see if anyone had an idea or answer to what this noise is.

Also I am located in San Diego, CA and would appreciate if any one could refer me to a good mechanic with a lot of 350z experience who could diagnose my engine problem if it can't be solved in this forum or if they can help me themselves.

FYI. I have been on this site for a while and I tried searching for a similar situation, but the subjective nature of the engine noise description in the search function makes it difficult to find the same exact symptoms that I have.

Thank you everyone for your help

J.T.

Its hard to specifically tell from your video. But what it sounded like to me was typical lifter/valve noise. What kind of oil are you using?Does your car use any oil between changes?
You may want to flush the engine with Marvel Mystery Oil(or a equivilent).Possible a heavier weight oil(10-30)&a additive to quiet the noise.
See what happens.

JCity- I have always used Mobil 1. I do see that there is oil consumption. I have switched to 10w-30. Do you know of any additives that I could use in the mean time besides the engine flush you recommended? I just changed the oil.

Fitzys350z- Is there a known problem with 350z's where the fuel injectors just start to get loud? My car sounds like a diesel engine.

Thanks guys.

For closure sake, I just got a diagnosis from a Nissan Mechanic and they said its probably a loose rod ($2500-$4500 for repair). They said it could be driven on for a short time period, but looks like i gota get a new car. It sucks because Ihave babied this car, but you never know whats going to happen after the warranty runs out. I will be parting out the after market things shortly including: Brembo brakes, '06 OEM LED lights, sub box etc.
