Default Manual transmission slipping out of gear momentarily...

I have the Nissan 350z 2004 stick model - car slipped out of 6th momentarily 4 or 5 times in the past few days - on last occasion it is now showing "service engine soon", "TCS off" and "SLIP" lights... TCS button has no effect!

The shift lever is jumping out of gear into neutral when you are accelerating? THis is not a good sign.
How many miles on your car?

I think its the TCS kicking in for a second or two for no reason... Once the TCS off light is stuck on, it doesn't seem to jump anymore...

Car has 101k

get a code reader and find what codes it has thrown recently before you go researching any further. pep boys does it free.

Forget TCS. If the car is jumping out of gear this is a transmission problem. TCS is trivial.

So he says. Id doubt that's actually happening. I call poor choice of descriptors in thread title .. all can be traced easier if op checks recent code history..otherwise its just his verbiage.

Op.. Tcs and vdc do lots os odd things.. limp, wiring in st column can induce.. tire size etc. Het codes..re post.. them u will know for sure.

Sorry I'm not an expert, thats why I come to you guys 8-)

I was doing a little experiment this morning - I drove to work with TCS turned off and it didn't make a difference - about 10 miles into my trip I was in 6th gear and it felt like it went out of gear for about 2 seconds, the SLIP light came on and I could no longer turn on or off TCS with the switch, it stuck on TCS off... nothing more happened after that...

I will get the codes read later today and post my findings here!

Is the shifter popping out of gear or is it just cutting engine power?

to be honest, it feels like the shifter is popping in and out of gear on its own for a second or two - i've been trying to watch it and catch it happening but its not easy - it didn't do it at all driving 120 miles today!

Shifter does not pop out of gear and go back in on its own...
