Default 2006 MT Clutch

Hey all, this is my first post. I recently got a Black 2006 MT Enthusiasts model with 45,000 miles. My clutch pedal sometimes gets stuck for a couple of seconds and pops out. Every time I shift I hit the clutch to the floor, after it catches I take my foot off the clutch and the pedal gets stuck and pops out (makes a little thump noise as it goes back to its original position). Shifting and everything is fine, but I was wondering if its riding the clutch. Whats wrong ?!? Thanks for your time.

P.S. I wasn't sure what subcategory this would go under.

Sounds like the throwout bearing is getting stuck on the pressure plate and not releasing properly. Possibly has an aftermarket clutch that isn't right or just a bad OEM part.

This is a common 350Z problem. Please search Clutch slave and master cylinder.

Thanks for the quick response! I searched the term and I'm really not sure.
I can still shift and drive, is this just an early sign? Should I stop driving and get it fixed? Does the Clutch slave and Master Cylinder cost a lot? Do I need to get a whole new clutch? I was thinking maybe there is an air bubble in the hydraulic fluid (bleeding the clutch). It's like there is gum stuck to the back of the pedal and it gets stuck/sticky about 1 inch from its original position and it pops back 1-3 seconds later. Btw shifting is smooth. Sorry this is my first manual transmission .

Edit:I think it might be, except it's not as severe as others. I'm going to take it to the dealer and see what they say. I bought it at a Mitsubishi dealer and got a 3yr/36,000mile warranty so it should be covered right?

Visit a mechanic to diagnose the problem. No point in guessing. The problem will get worse if left unattended.

Doubt it. Read your warranty.

I changed my clutch fluid when I started experiencing this problem and that seemed to solve it. You can suck it out from the reservoir, put new fluid in, pump clutch, repeat till the fluids clean looking and just do it ever so often. Mine only happened when it was really hot out 100+ so I only have had it happen a few times, not since I added new fluid tho.

like the guy above, I only had the problem in hot weather or stuck in traffic. Completely flushed and bled the clutch system with fresh Motul brake fluid and I haven't had it stick for over 8months. Give this a try first, its easy and cheap.

From now on I plan on doing this regularly to maintain the system and prevent prroblems down the road

I'm not sure if it's during hot weather or not. Some person in a later forum had the exact same problem and he just lubed the clutch and it seemed to work. I'm probably going to do that, but if it doesn't work I'll flush the clutch fluid. If it turns out the clutch fluid was bad and I change it will the engagement point change (Higher or Lower)? Thanks!
