Default Synthetic oil okay in 2005 350z?

Hi,
Just wanted to hear what everyone has to say about using synthetic oil. I use synthetic oil in all my other cars, but heard that Nissan doesn't recommend using synthetic because the car tends to "burn oil". I have a 2005 350z with 55xxx miles on it. I don't drive it a lot.

No, you really don't want to hear what everyone has to say about synthetics. Most of it's marketing hype, general BS and cult-like brainwashing.

Of course you can use it in an '05. It burns just as much there as anywhere else. Save your money and buy a name brand mineral based oil and change it regularly, that's all you really need to do.

fine....this is my first thread....So far 2 staff members have been incredibly rude...this is how you treat new members?...I was reading different opinions on whether or not synthetic could be used in a 350z...His answer may not have been correct. I wanted a couple of opinions. This is a forum...why can't I post what I want?

Just my opinion...based on experience.
I would not use synthetic unless I used it when the car was new.
Using it on a car that has 55k miles,no records of oil use etc,why use
synthetic?Waste of money and maybe a possibility(not probable)seals
leaking.
Why don't you use a semi-synthetic?
Thats what I've used since I bought mv Z new.
At 77k,uses no oil(maybe 1/2 qt)between 5,000 mi oil changes.
Did the same on a Suburban...it went over 300k.

You asked for what everyone has to say, and that's what you got, OP. No one was being a jerk specifically to you. Dave was pointing out the marketing bs, etc. that is not being rude to you, that is educating you on the truth. You asked the same question again after Dave had said "of course you can". Then Waizz pointed that out and directed you to a wealth of information that will help you educate yourself about your vehicle.

I'm not sure how you perceive this as people being rude, because they were actually providing you with what you asked for… along with information to help educate yourself.

This is a site with a wealth of information, so we encourage folks to search, read, and educate themselves. If you don't do so, you might as well ask the hobo on the street what spark plugs you should use in your Z and then take his word as gold. Same thing here… read the information that is out there and make educated decisions based on what you learn. Because if you decide to be spoon fed by people you don't know on the internet, you may end up swallowing poison.
