Default Replacing Hood Hinges, Hood, and Fenders?

Hey - so hood latch failed this morning on the highway and hood came up and over the windshield. So now it looks like hood, latch, both hinges are bent, and both fenders are messed up by the hood since it came up.

My problem is if i go thru insurance im guessing they will raise my rates to cover this. so can i fix this myself?

I am not a body guy but good with a wrench - i pulled the hood off already and looks like hinges are behind the fenders so can i just bolt on aftermarket fenders and hood? I cant seem to find the hinges anywhere online?

Hoping someone has done this already and knows what im in for here.

thanks - john

premiums should not rise due to not at fault accidents. Look into it and ask the ins guy.

dude I'm in the same boat. I was at Willow Springs raceway and had the hood open to cool the car after one of my sessions and it was a pretty windy day (40-50mph gusts) and while i was busy at the truck of the car the wind blew the hood up and against my windshield. I'm supprised it didnt damage the window at all but now my hood does not open smooth it rubs in the corners on the fenders is chipping all the paint off everytime i open and close the hood. my hood/ bumper alignment is also kinda off because of the hood hinges being bent. anyways i did a quick google search and found these.

good luck!

I had the exact same thing happen to me at the track while letting the engine cool. If you make any repairs can you take lots of pictures. I am headed to fix the minor interference. I don't know if the hinges are bent, if they moved or something else? The hood looks fine. It looks like I have to remove the fenders to get at the hinges?

Thanks.

So I went to the dealer today and purchased new hinges @ $44 each. Went home and removed the hood. I could see how the hinges bent so I just bent them around and tried to get them to match the new ones in my hand. Put the hood back on and bam problem fixed. It's not 100% perfect but there is no more rubbing so that's good enough for me. Now I can return the new ones and get some money back.

Yea. It's not hard to do. Get new hindges from Nissan and its all a simple fix and self explanatory as far as removal. fenders are repairable if not destroyed. But prob best to get new aftermarket or oems. Hood is up to u- oe or aftermarket. GL
