Default Car makes flutter noise from tranny after storm?

Hey guys,

We just got a pretty bad rainstorm here in Texas, after driving in the storm for a about 20 minutes I get to my destination. Three hours later I leave and notice a flutter noise from the car, sounds like the tranny. From the moment I step on the clutch to the moment it stops, it sounds like a flutter is reving or something. Like a pigeon flying. The noise dies down after driving the car for a bit, but it's still there. Whenever I'm cruising and I apply a very small amount of throttle, the noise is there, but when I press the gas down a little more, it's gone. What could this be? Could it have been from the storm? Am I facing a big repair?

Another thing, the car's clutch has a high engagement point, which I'm told is normal on the Z's.

Rain water is getting inside the transmission? How does that happen?

I never said that, I said that this started happening after driving in heavy rain.

^Rhetorical question by davidv.

Z transmissions are notoriously noisy. Mine has become more "fluttery" over time. The rain storm I think is a coincidence and probably has nothing to do with it. How many miles are on the car, when was the last fluid change, what type of fluid, etc?

You wanted a quick answer yet provided so little information, just a lot of talk about pigeons.

Lol, you're right. Well the fluids were changed in 2011 if i'm not mistaken. The car has 92k miles. The harder I press the clutch, the faster the fluttering noise is. When I have a small amount of gas on the trottle, the flutter is there, but when I step my foot down a bit it stops. I was just a little freaked out about this last night, as I just bought the car a week ago.

I usually attribute "fluttering" with exhaust leaks.
