Default 350Z replaced belt and high pitch noise HELP!

After replacing the A/C belt and the thinker belt, my Z is getting the high pitch noise, when I started the engine.

I have followed the belt change instruction from this post.
https://my350z.com/forum/engine-driv...very-easy.html

Putting 22lbs of pressure on smaller A/C belt and 26 ft-lbs on the thicker belt.

The high pitch noise would last about 10 seconds. But these high pitch noise does not come up every time. It seems like the noise came up mostly during cold weather.

A month later, I have tighten up the belts again without measuring the pressure of pounds on the belt. But the noise remain.

Now I am suspecting if the noise came from the clutch because I have to step on my clutch when start the engine. As I let go of the clutch after engine started, the noise would go away in seconds.

I have read a couple topics about the high pitch noise but still have no clue.

Does anyone have this problem or would know what caused the issue?
Thank you,

The belts need a lot of tension to avoid squealing.

So, tighten more.

Hi russ713
I have tightened a lot more than 22lbs / 26lbs.
Not sure how tight should I go? Sorry I don't have much experience changing the belts
Thanks

I typically tighten mine down until I can twist them about 45 degrees.

I replaced mine with OEM belts and they squealed like crazy, even after tightening. I gave up and replaced them with goodyear gatorback belts and I haven't had any problem with them.

Thanks

It could be the defective belt, but before you buy another one, check belt grooves are fit and tighten some more. New belt seems to stretch.

I bought my belts (OEM) on ebay and I suspected that it may be defective belt.

I am guessing the noise came from the AC belt because the high pitch noise came up when the AC is on. Once I turned the AC off the sound gone in seconds.

Thanks everyone.
I will tighten the belt again and hopefully it will work out.
If it doesn't work, then I will have to change the belt again.

The OEM ones I bought online from courtesyparts.com. They are legit OEM. The Goodyear ones I just bought from rockauto.com.

Good luck, hope you get it figured out.

Thumbs up 350Z squealing serpentine belt

Thanks for the thread! I thought I had tightened my serpentine belt enough when I replaced it, I checked it twice but my 350Z would squeal when I started it up (cold start). The noise would go away as it warmed up.
When I tightened the belt (really tightened it) the noise was gone.
YES!!! PROBLEM SOLVED.
