clutch/gear problem. PLEASE HELP
Hi, any help is appreciated. My car goes in gear but doesn't move, whenever its on gear or reverse, it just rolls if its in an uphill position or remains still.
This happened when I was driving and I had to tow it.
The mechanic says its the clutch is good and is still engaging.
He also said the gear box is good cos its smoothly going into gear.
Finally, he said it could be the pressure plate (according to him, this could have depressed causing the car to be in permanent clutch- i don;t know if thats possible)
Its going to cost uphill of 600 for a new clutch set.
Does anyone have any clues about what could be wrong or had similar problems with their 350z.
Again, the car starts fine when the clutch pedal is pressed, however when it goes in gear, the car doesn't move.

I'm not the expert. But I had a similar clutch problem.
I think yours is a little more complicated than a burnt out clutch, sounds more like a tranny problem.
When I would put it in gear, I would rev but it wouldn't engage until ~6000 rpm. Eventually it wouldn't even move. (like your car)
Get a second opinion on it if possible. And good luck! Clutches SUCK ***!

Sorry but no way to tell without inspecting the drivetrain. If the car is on a lift you can see the driveshaft operating or not. Then you can isolate the problem to before or after the driveshaft.
