Broken Antenna
I've got a 2004 Nissan 350z that I just bought. It looks like a bike hit the side where the antenna is, and broke the antenna off. Now, it looks like the screw is still stuck in the antenna base. Is there anyway to replace the antenna base without having to take it to Nissan and pay $200? Thanks for your help!
Would help with a pic.
There is ALWAYS a way.
If I remember correctly, this screw(bolt)is not very thick in diameter.
What I would do is drill into the bolt with a small bit.You may have to file the surface
of the bolt to get the surface flat.I'd be sure to mask around the area and maybe tape
some material to protect the surrounding surface.Start the drilling at a low rpm to get a hole started.Once you bore the hole, you should be able to extract the bolt.Since
this bolt is not very tight, you may change to a slightly larger bit and put the drill in reverse. The bolt may come out...

I took the base off and am now left with half of the screw still stuck.

Seems now that you have the base off,the screw/bolt could be removed
per my drill idea? You could now clamp it in a vise or Workmate?
I tried you're idead, but it didn't work.

I added picture on your prior post to my350z.com database - 3rd party sites attachments will sooner or later get lost, accounts close, etc.
as a my350z.com attachment, no matter when a person reviews this thread they will see the pictures. when people delete their photobucket accounts, etc, all the picture links go dead and makes threads useless sometimes with out the pics..
