Default engine temperature too high?

is my car getting too hot? in a hot day my temperature needle goes from middle to a little over 3/4 of the whole way up to hot. then slowly drops back to the middle...
on a nice day of 70 degrees F the fan turns on to cool of my engine. Is it normal on a Z, i never noticed this on my on lastly own cars and i don't drive it hard.

Probably a thermostat sticking, it does happen on these cars.

I'd suggest, if you don't know how to properly troubleshoot it, that you find someone who does and have them look at it.

Also your fans might not be working properly or you have air in the system.
