CLUTCH QUESTION !!! 6speed manual
Hey guys,
I have a 2005 Nissan 350z 6spd with a manual tranny
The problem: I went into Mister Transmission and they took my car for a test drive and said this: there is too much play within the clutch/ pressure plate seems to be gone bad and the release barring must be too.
The Question: he suggest a clutch assembly kit, with a clutch disk/release barring and pressure plate, Should I buy all that or just the pressure plate individually AND does anybody know a cheaper brand of clutch disk kit although still decent for the price in CANADA/USA..... I was qouted 400 bucks for the kit from him AND 450bucks labour.....
The second question: What will happen if i continue driving with the problem
help

What was the reason for taking the car in (what was the problem you observed)?
Maybe I'm just not that mechanically knowledgeable on what the issues could be based on what the mechanic said, but if their going to replace the pressure plate, they might as well replace everything. I'd say, replace the clutch assembly, release bearing, and flywheel too. $400 for the stock clutch kit sounds cheap actually. I was quoted $800 for a new stock clutch from the dealer, without labor. Are they replacing with stock or an aftermarket kit?

i have a friend with a used 50,000km clutch disk + pressure plate.. i might as well just buy that from him and have it installed,
problem is, i need to wait a second and let the clutch out slowly which is annoying

Yes sounds similar to my issue, I pretty much replaced my whole clutch, with a southbend it came with throw out bearing pivot ball along with a few other things. Got the car back ... the clutch pedal was weak like crazy checked out few things found leaking my slave and master cylinder that pretty much made the car drive brand new almost. Maybe that's your problem?
