Replacing a Slave Cylinder
I have a 03 350z. My slave cylinder went out on me a few days ago. Dealership is wanting to charge me an arm and a leg to replace a little $30 part. I am going to end up doing it myself to save money. I dont have much free time to do the job myself so does anyone know if the slave cylinder is external or internal? Will i have to drop my tranny just to get to it? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

First, do not use a dealer, get quotes from a couple of smaller shops. Second of all, it IS external and although I have never changed one, I don't think it is terribly difficult other than lying on your back and probably some dripping fluid. Care to share what "an arm and a leg" is?

External, 2 bolts and a line. Takes 5 minutes to change it, 30 minutes (at most) to bleed it

Nissan quoted me between 200 to 500 dollars, they said depended on how long it took to do it. I thought that was outrageous considering the part isn't expensive. But frankly the nissan in my town is lame and the ppl there are idiots. And I believe the HR Z has the slave cylinder internal but I wasn't sure on mine model. If its external it isn't too difficult, something I've done before so I can do it again.
