Default Do you need to remove the intake plenum to change spark plugs?

The repair manual states the intake plenum needs removing to change the spark plugs (I am using NGK LFR5AIX-11). And of course the plenum gaskets are marked non-reuseable. And of course nissan wants $180 for the new gaskets.

It looks like there is enough room to change the spark plugs without taking the plenum off. Can this be done?

Or can the gaskets be safely/reliably reused?

You don't have to but it makes it a little easier.

Thanks for the help. I missed that thread in my search. I will try without removing it and see how I get on.

Just finished, it is a pretty easy job. Mine is RHD so might be different. The right side was slightly more difficult due to the wiring loom. The left side couldn't be easier. My gaps were almost 0.050" and the electrodes were very worn. Hopefully this will help my cold start hesitation. On a side note OEM air filters are so cheap for these cars and so very easy to change.
