Default Hatch/Gas Cap Adjustments

After six months but only 3,200 miles my hatch doesn't automatically release. I push the button and it unlocks but I have to mess with it to get it to release. Early on it wasn't a problem. My gas cap release is so cantankerous that I have asked strangers to push the button while I pressured the cover with a credit card. Are they both adjustable. Has anyone had them adjusted by Nissan?

My cousin got the hatch release replaced by his dealer. He would have to hold the release in and lift at the same time, where as in the beginning you just click the button and lift. They ordered the wrong part though and he has to wait another week to get it installed, I'll keep you posted.

I also have the problem and have been told there is no fix.

I'm so phucking sick of all these problems. My Z has been in for service over 15 times in the past 12 months

You can add me to the hatch/gas cap problem list. They dont know what to do about either. The gas cap problem seems to happen over time. Weird

My gas flap was sticking most of the time, took several attempts at best. I sprayed a little WD40 on the hinge/spring and it has worked first time every time since.

I have to press the button about 20 times on mine to get it to open. I haven't taken it to the dealer to fix it because I am afraid that they will mess my car up.

Major pain in the a$$. I've had the dealer adjust mine several times but I still have the problem. The last time i took it in I had pushed so hard on the release that it fell through the dash. I now find that if I press & hold for a few seconds it seams to release the 1st time most of the time. I think I'll try that wd40 trick someone else mentioned.

I have had the exact same hatch and gas cap problems. I took it to a dealer 2 times, and it is still not fixed. I have to push my gas cap button up to 30 times just to get it to open sometimes.

graphite might be better than WD40. WD40 will attract particulates that will eventually cause more friction.

a dry lube like graphite just might do the trick.
