Jeff, would you be willing to speculate as to whether the kits that fixed the feathering did so because of system geometry changes or because of better matched shocks and springs?

TCL,

I don't think the S-Tune changes the geometry much other than a slight drop. It does swap out the OEM shocks & springs. I still have a feeling the shocks are the root of a lot of this car's tire wear problems. It is obvious that the OEM shocks screw up the ride.

well if the evidence does point to the shocks as the cause then the question becomes why doesn't nissan do something about it? i understand it eats into their profits but there comes to the point when you realize that future revenue and reputation is more important than a little loss in profit margin.

Smile Devils Advocate - Do you Concure Nismo removes Feathering problem?

If one buys the NISMO S-Tune does it really mean the Bounce/Feathering is Gauranteed to go away?

Inquireing minds need to know.

If so, Will NNA continue to replace tires if the S-Tune doesn't fix the bounce and Feathering?

I had to ask this for the Forums sake - since this question has been asked before and has been blown off?

Cheers Amy -

So your info might be better than mine. I do know know that EVERY car we've put a suspension kit on be it Nismo, Tein, HKS, etc.. has made the problem go away. Kind of shows you where the real problem is huh?!?

I think the keyword is "guarantee". If Nissan won't admit that there's a stock suspension design problem, they certainly won't guarantee that the Nismo S-Tune will fix it!

I'm not the major expert, but I don't think anyone has reported still having these problems after installing the S-Tune suspension.

I don't think you'll still have feathering, but since Nismo is warranted by Nissan they shouldn't refuse to replace feathered tires because you installed Nismo.

My tires are holding up well, I have a little feathering and I'm sure they will last 40 or50k. Don't know if this is good or bad though since the road noise is terrible, it really ruins some of the chic the car has otherwise.

Ok...a lot of people on here keep talking about HAVING to replace the tires @ 5000miles...and tires WEARING OUT in 5000 miles. That's NOT what feathering is.

I have 22K miles on my car split between two different sets of tires and while both sets are feathered..and do roar a little, I'm not going to replace them until they actually wear out since there is no effect on safety or performance. Yea...it sucks to listen to the roaring when I don't have my radio on...but I'll live with it until nissan comes out with a fix or I pick up the s-tune suspension.
