Default Battery Dead Only Sometimes.... After Stereo Was Stolen

Hey guys so on Christmas day someone broke my windows and ripped out my double din alpine along with a sub box and amp. While cleaning up the glass one of the amp wires sparked so we took out the amp fuse in the wire.

After installing all of the glass the battery was dead (not for sure if it was from doors being open or from the damage)

We jumped the car and drove it around to charge the battery up. Then parked it for the night. I got in the car this morning and the battery seemed almost dead. It turned over slow at first then went faster and faster until it started.

I drove the car about 10 miles and parked it. I came out about 2 hours later and the car would hardly turn over and didn't start. I popped the clutch and drove it 10 miles homes. I shut the car off, waited about 5 minutes and the car started right up

So... what does this sound like? New battery or is some wiring somewhere messed up? It sounds to me like the battery is draining?

I am so broke after Christmas and buying all of the glass so I'd really like to not have to buy a battery -.-

Hi campbmic… I’m very sorry for your loss and inconvenience. Hopefully you have insurance that helps with this. One thing that never goes away is the sense of violation when someone damages your property. …And, it appears there was some snow in Dallas.

Your Alpine DD H/U had a wire (probably yellow) supplying continuous power. The H/U has a battery that preserves settings (favorite radio stations, routes, etc.), and the continuous power line charges this battery. The device is intelligent, and “knows” not to drain the car’s battery.

When your car was burglarized and the thief literally ripped the devices from their housing, the continuous power wire was left exposed and unconnected. Find this wire and cap it off.

^ Very likely this.
Barring that, killing a lead/acid car battery that one last time might have been the death of it and it will act like crap until it fully dies shortly. How old was the battery?

if the constant power wire grounded it would just blow out a fuse.

You need a battery. Sorry.

If the battery was that flat, driving it 10 minutes will not put enough charge in it to start the car again. Put it on a charger overnight and see what happens.

Sorry for your loss. I hate thieves !!
