Angry Why is my set blinking on cruise control?

I have an 03 manual 350z with 77000 miles on it. Ive had it for four months and have already had to put a new clutch and fuel pump in it. I got the clutch about a month ago but my car just started acting weird a couple of days ago. 1. when i try to set my cruize control, rarely will it work now, but most of the time it blinks and won't work at all. 2. When I floor the car, it feels like its only at 1/2 throttle now!!! its 20 degrees outside so idk if that has anything to do with it. Please tell me your opinoin

Well, on mine if I disconnect the traction control for the tract it messes up my cruise control until I unhook the battery which resets the ecu.

It sounds like you are going into limp mode so you have some other problems going on. I would worry about why it won't accelerate and not about the cruise.

Why was the fuel pump changed? Also, the crank position sensor can sometimes get damaged with a clutch install.

This happens to me some times as well. Its always right after I have had a hard breaking situation. After I turn car off and back on it goes away. I am sure its something to do with the ABS.

Go to maintance and repair section find and follow the link to fsm find your year and model go to the ec.pdf file page check out page 512 and 647 maybe this will help you diag the blinking lite.

When the ECM detects any of the following conditions, the ECM will cancel the cruise operation and inform
the driver by blinking indicator lamp.
Engine coolant temperature is slightly higher than the normal operating temperature, CRUISE lamp may
blink slowly.
When the engine coolant temperature decreases to the normal operating temperature, CRUISE lamp will
stop blinking and the cruise operation will be able to work by pressing SET switch or RESUME switch.
Malfunction for some self-diagnoses regarding ASCD control: SET lamp will blink quickly.

I went to my proformance mechanic in town and he said he can almost garuntee that it is the throttle positioning sensor. And that that would be the reason for both of them. Does that sound right?

I'm not sure but in reply to what your mechanic said, I don't like to pay people to guess at fixing my car. If tps didn't fix it I wouldn't want to pay for it and let them know that up front. May be a little more work but look up the problems in the fsm's do proper diags. and fix it right the first time. Thats just my thoughts though, good luck post what you find to be the problem.

Not sure where he got his information. If it is your TPS then you would be the first car ever to have the blinking cruise because of a tps. Nobody with a failed tps has ever had a blinking cruise issue.

TPS voltage can be logged with an OBDII logger like an LM-2 and that will easily tell you if it is failing. They usually have issues at idle as well.

if the mechanic didnt reposition both clutch switches when you put your clutch in, your cruise will not work

It won't cause the blinking though. I had my clutch switch unhooked for a while and it didn't blink.

I had the blinking cruise issue. Replaced the switch and problem never returned.
