Someone was kind enough to post a video of the same problem on Youtube. New end links did the trick. Check it out:

Mine rattles too, but sounds like the plastic foam pieces near the spare tire shifting around.

Default It does sound like plastic, doesn't it?

It sounded like plastic shifting around or rubbing to me, too. But after taking nearly all of the interior out of the back of the car, there was no improvement.

As soon as I wake my car up from its winter slumber, I'll get those upper strut pieces replaced and will report back. It'll probably be another 2-4 weeks.

Subscribed! Mine also sounds exactly like the OP's Video. Mine only rattles on the passenger's side rear. If it was sway bar end links, then bumps on either rear wheel would cause it to clunk. I'd love to hear an update from the OP. The strut hat was a constant problem on my e36 M3. Aftermarket made a killing on replacement parts with tougher rubber. IT would be nice if it were that easy on the 350z. THe's another thread where the guy determined his rattle was due to the lower shock mount holes' diameters being larger than the bolt that passe sthrough it to hold it together. He made soem shims from ABS plastic to fix it. I thnk a nylon part might be better for that. Shame on Nissan for not getting this right. Basic suspension stuff here...

I experienced the same squeaking noise that the OP described in my 05 Enthusiast after I replaced the front and rear shocks and springs with take-offs from a Nismo. My Z has about 135k miles now, and the Nismo take-offs were supposed to have had about 60k miles on them.

When driving the Z after the suspension upgrade, I noticed a noise from the rear suspension that was EXACTLY the sound captured in the OP's video. As the images of the parts used are no longer valid links (thanks, tinypic takeover :| ), I reached out to the OP and he confirmed that the dealership replaced the upper shock mounts to resolve his issue.

I ordered the KYB SM5482 mounts to try on my Z, and sent the OP a link to what I bought, and he agreed that those were the components that the dealership replaced for him as well.

Here are some images of the old mount before disassembling it, and the old upper mount & new KYB upper mount components side- by-side.

This has resolved my noise and my SQUEAKING is gone!!

My reason for posting in and reviving this old thread is that I confirmed the fix with the OP, and I'm adding fresh images to help the next person who is searching for a fix for this issue.

Additionally, I had added the shim/spacer washers to the bolt-head side of the rear lower shock mount when I installed the Nismo bits - this was in reaction to comments in this thread and elsewhere that it could avoid the chance for slop there contributing to the noise. I still had the squeaking, even with these in place.

It wasn't until I replaced the upper shock mount that I resolved the squeaking. My thinking is that the old rubber in the mount gets dry and noisy on the metal bushing inside as the suspension travel compresses and expands the rubber mount pieces.
