bad oil pressure sending unit or bad oil pump?
I need some opinions before my parts get in. Here's the deal, so last week my oil pressure gauge maxed out while driving to 120psi and just kind of stuck there while driving and 90psi on idle or with the engine off. I bought a cheap ebay oil pressure sensor and replaced it, changed out my oil and filter as well. Started the car and now it reads like 5psi max while driving then slowly goes down to 0psi while driving causing my oil light to come on.. I'm thinking this is due to the bad "new" oil pressure sensor? Any ideas? The car idles fine at 500rpm nothing from the norm. I'm just waiting for my new oem oil pressure sending sensor to arrive. I will also have a friend test it with an oil pressure test gauge this weekend. I'm just paranoid in the meantime.. I doubt its my oil pump gone bad given the issue originally was due to the gauge showing a max oil pressure spike.. ?? any input would be appreciated..

Autozone and grab a $20 gauge, install it (not really , just make it so you can read oil pressure ) and see what is going on.

Many many people have had this problem - it's the sensor that taps into the oil pan. I had this issue a few years back, $60 oil pressure sensor from CourtesyParts dot com and installed.
I ****ed mine up by over torquing the sensor - I believe it's 9 ft*lbs of torque...
