Default Headlight question

I recently purchased a 2005. I didn't notice at the time, but the headlights were different colors (one looked blue, one purple). I broke out the owners manual, and it was calling for a D2R Xenon for my low beams, and a H7 halogen for my high beams. I purchased replacements. Reading on this site how tough it is to change the bulbs, I had the local midas change them for me (there are limited mechanics in my small town area). They installed them for me, but I have a question. It appears as if the halogens are my low beams and my xenon are my highs..Is it possible to get them backwards? I thought the xenons were low beams. Also, the positions in the headlight seem wrong as well...the high beam xenon is on the bottom and the halogen low beam is on top (where the focus beam thing is). Is this correct? Ive searched my manual front to back, and searched the internet and cannot find out the proper placement of each bulb..
Someone please help me. The car is almost undrivable at night. I lay myself at all of your expertise. Thanks in advance for your time.

Here is a bulb listing on the Sylvania website:

https://www.sylvania.com/en-us/appli...el=130&make=68

You are correct. The D2's are your lowbeams and the H7's are your high beams.

You may wanna go back to the installer and ask them to correct the bulb positions.

The HID bulb (D2R) DOES go behind the "eye" and your high beam sits UNDER it. It sounds like they installed them in the correct place.

the H7 is behind the eye and is currently my low beam. My high beam is the d2r and its in the open below the h7. I think they have it backwards, but arent the harnesses different? Can they even be plugged in differently?

Since you are in WNY I would suggest going to a Nissan dealer perhaps. I wouldnt ever take my Z to a Midas or Monroe Muffler too many mistakes.

When you turn on your low beams you should be able to see them "warm up". If this doesnt happen they must have either aimed it poorly or somehow messed up the install.

I could meet up with you to check it out or just chat about Z's.

Yeah, that would be cool. Im in westfield (which explains my lack of dealership choices lol) so we could easily meet up. The bulbs are absolutely backwards, but what I dont understand is how the wiring is backwards. the low beams shouldnt be able to plug into the halogens..

base I think. The halogens I bought have a blue bulb, and I can clearly see them behind the eye through the side. The D2R's are below and only go on when I turn on the high beam (the halogens behind the eye are always on).

If you have a Base, it didn't come originally with HID lights. You would have an H-7 low beam and H-1 high beam. Maybe the original owner converted to an HID kit but then you would need a rebased H-7 HID headlight.

well, no, according to my owners manual, I have xenon d2r low beam and h7 high beam. I did purchase bulbs, and they are installed, however, I am questioning their position and installation. My car is a 2005, not sure if that makes a difference.

Low beam d2r is correct (if you have HIDs originally from the factory, base 05s did not come with HIDs). The low beam bulb glass/lens should not be blue if it is in fact a HID d2r bulb.

I guess I dont have a base then. I purchased 2- philips D2R xenon bulbs which I can see installed in the high beam location. I also purchased a h7 halogen kit with blue tinted lenses which I can see installed behind the eye. when I turn my headlights on, I see the halogens are on. When I turn on my high beams I can see the D2R are lit up. I am at a loss since I didnt do the installation. I think Im gonna have them look at it again..Thanks everyone for the help.
