Default Help Guys!

Just had a Stage 1 Clutch Masters Clutch installed today on my 03 350z. with a stock flywheel... and now the car shakes violently when taking off of first 1st and in reverse as well... and slight chattering when engaging into 2nd 3rd and 4th... its so bad im afraid to drive it in heavy traffic. ive done some searching some say its the mounts gone bad others say its the stock flywheel.. i wanted to hear a couple of other opinions to see what you guys think it could be...

Back when cars used mechanical linkages between the pedal and the clutch mechanism, loose engine and transmission mounts would cause chatter. That's hardly ever the reason with hydraulically operated clutches used nowadays.

'03 Z? How many miles were on the stock flywheel? Did you have it re-surfaced before putting in that new clutch? Although, that's pretty doubtful, considering how difficult it is to find a shop that can resurface a dual-mass flywheel.

If there are a lot of miles on that flywheel and no re-surface, then the flywheel could have hotspots and/or warping causing it to shake at clutch engagement if there's a big difference in flywheel rotational speed and engine speed. Same goes if the springs on the dual-mass flywheel are worn.

When I changed my '03 Z's clutch at 110k, the flywheel springs were so limp that I almost couldn't fit the Torx bit through the cut-outs to unbolt the flywheel from the engine.

This is the first time the clutch has ever been changed right now the car has 79K miles on it. The flywheel was not resurfaced but my mechanic said that it looked perfectly fine and that it didn't need to be resurfaced. but the car shakes like hell in 1st and reverse and idles very poorly now... so i don't know what to think...

I agree with Taywan and it being the flywheel unless it wasn't centred properly when fitted.
