Default Quick question about idling

This is my first post on the forums and I have a quick question. I may be over analyzing this, But Everytime I rev up my engine or get on it a little bit it and then completely let off the gas the rpms go to 1000 then jump back up ever so slightly. I'm just curious about this.

Thank you!

It might help if the video worked.

"... the rpms go to 1000 then jump back up ever so slightly." That makes it seem like it's idling at over 1000rpm, which definitely isn't normal after warmup.

I drive manual so can't say for sure if it's normal, but doesn't seem like a big deal.

My '08 5AT does the same thing, but the idle is around 600rpms.

My mom's Altima and the camry I used to have did that sometimes too. I think it's normal for Autos to do that.

if its an auto that is totally normal, i think its just the tranny realizing where it should be.
I've seen it in a lot of auto cars

Why is the idle speed so high? That's gotta be hard on the transmission and brakes, and it probably makes the car somewhat dangerous to drive.
