Default 05 350z transmission, need opinions on what to do

Ok here's a newbee f...up I bought a 05 350z and it got towed to my house with the rear wheel down, about 300 miles. Now they told me the transmission is burnt up. Is this correct and the options that are given to me are to have a salvage transmission put in for 2200.00 or send it a shop that said they would rebuild it with upgrades such as bigger valve body and shift kit and bigger bands and such for 3200.00. i don't know a lot about transmissions so I'm looking for advise, what would you do. Thanks for any help and looking forward to the new forum.

Too bad you didn't check the owner's manual. It says a dolly MUST be used under the drive wheels when towing the car, if it's got the 5AT.

Who did the towing? Unless you specifically authorized them to tow it without a dolly, they may be liable for the damage. Any commercial towing outfit should know enough about cars to know they need to use a dolly on cars with an AT.

Is the car still drivable? Is it showing any symptoms of damage?

It was a favor and a miss communication between family member. Engine is fine it just spins in drive and reverse doesn't go. I called a shop that specialists in performance transmissions and they said to modify it that everyone that brings them there Zs gets this done. So I think that's the way I'm leaning but like I said I'm a newbee with this kinda car.

shiit for 2200, you could just find a used MT and swap it, you dont even have to change the ECU, maybe the TCU

This^^

Your transmission is probably full debris from all the damage inside. Unless the repair shop REALLY knows what it's doing, the repaired unit will never perform or be reliable like it should.
