Stubborn oil leak
Hello everyone!
I am new to this forum and i am sorry if i am posting in the wrong section. We have a 2004 350Z enthusiast, with 70K on the engine. Two months ago my husband did an oil change like usual, and he changed a filter as well.Nothing out of ordinary. Second day after, it started to drip oil, and within couple weeks it turned out to be a problem (you should see the driveway and the garage floor).
So last weekend we got new oil pan gasket, new drain plug and new filter, lifted the car, changed all of that , put new oil in, and problem is still there, but worse. It drips even more now. Before we lift the car again, i wanted to ask if we went wrong with the dry install gasket, and do any of you go with gasket alone without RTV whatsoever? We are sure that oil leak is coming from the area around oil pan, and not above, and only thing we didn't change was the oil hose.
Should we trash the gasket and go with RTV, or change oil pan completely? Oil pan looks in perfect shape, we didn't have too much trouble with taking it off and scrubbing old RTV off.
Any help is appreciated.

No it's just like doing a oil filter, just rub some new oil on the gasket. I can't find the part # but the new one is black and didn't seem to fit as nice as the old orange one but it is the updated part and it worked. Use the pic in the first reply to get your torque specs.
For the oil cooler O ring you'll need part # 21304-JA11A it's a common problem with most Nissan and Infiniti vehicles. Most of them use the same part # too.
The part number may have superseded already since it's always changing, but that should be the newest part # for it.

I just picked up a 2003 Touring and it has a leak around the cooler. I replaced the original o-ring with the new one and it leaked. I figured maybe I pinched it installing it so I had a replacement ring ready. I pulled the cooler down and the ring looked fine but I changed it again. Well, it still leaks. I think the cooler unit is bad or maybe warped? I think I'll just do an oil cooler delete (keep all water lines) until I can afford something after market or have the time to delete all the coolant lines as well.
My g35 had a leak from behind the oil cooler. It start as little drips then gets worse. This is also a prob with meranos. Anyways the gasket is cheap from Nissan and it's easy but you will have to change oil again.
