This help for fast shifting in drag/street racing.

To test the clutch drive to 50-60mph, put it in 5th-6th and do a full throttle run. If it slips then you need to change it.

^^^I guess it's personal preference.

I'm not new to a manual, owned 5 different manual trans cars/trucks over the last 2 decades (6 counting the Z) with about 300k combined mileage.

I just don't care for the feel in the Z.

Not the only one who noticed it, either, based on multiple threads/comments on the webz.

When I took it to my buddy's garage, he put it up on his rack.

He actually stalled it driving it up over the blocks.

This is a guy who owns an independant shop, and drives dozens of different cars every week.

Then he stalled it when he was backing it off the blocks too.

He didn't much care for the clutch either.

I have had the JWT clutch and flywheel for 160k ( I grind gears sometimes but don't we all). I still love it

The JWT is a very nice replacement clutch. I'd say the pedal is about the same as stock, and car drives like stock. I have one in my Z.

You can adjust the pedal engagement hight to your liking. And with a new clutch it would need to be adjusted. No need to the RJM pedal with the JWT

Break is is normal to easy driving for 300-500 miles.

I can pull fifth gear out with ease without using the clutch at 30 mph. I suspect it needs replaced, surely this is not normal? I'm eyeing the JWT combo seen here I'm curious how difficult this clutch is to drive with for the females not used to anything stiff ( in the car ). I'm also curious as to the break in period for the jwt clutch.

Thanks!

I like Chris’s advice. I mean… Why destroy a perfectly good clutch?

I think you've missed the point of what the RJM kit does - much more than just adjusting the engagement height. And, if you're happy with what you've got, nothing wrong with that, either. When my clutch goes, JWT would be my choice for a replacement, too, having driven a friend's Nismo with one installed.

I'm sure all that pedal does is allow you to adjust the clutch for easier modulation....something I've never struggled with on my car.
What does make it tough to drive are the stock rubber bushings, especially my blown out rear diff bushing. It's getting replaced this spring.

I'm not a shill for RJM, just one of Ryan's happy customers who's bought and installed 2 of these kits. Still think it's one of the best things I've done to the Z. Anyway, if you want much more info than I care to type, have a look at the review thread, which I think is something like 20+ pages at this point. You won't see too many Z mods with that sort of positive feedback.
