Timing chain cover help
I've searched and have messed around with this timing chain cover for days when I'm off of work. I've have been hammering away at the 2 notches at the top and have been chipping away the front timing chain cover. Is there a method to take this off?
Triple check that all of the bolts holding it on are out, there are some not listed in the manual.
Then use two pry bars and you should be able to find some surfaces that you can get leverage on without actually touching the mating surface. Although you’ll have to touch the mating surface, be gentle when you do not to scrape it too badly. Work your way around with both pry bars and periodic try to wiggle it off until you get it.
For me I would pry it open with one and then insert the other in a different spot, then repeat until I had gone all the way around. The rtv is tough but if you do it right you’ll hear a peeling noise of the rtv stretching and then it shouldn’t be too hard to wiggle off.
Good luck, try not to warp it, that could make it a real pain to get back on.
edit: didn’t realize this was so old, just saw it under another thread as related. Sorry to revive.
