Dreaded Camshaft Position Sensor Errors P0340 & P0011
Dreaded Camshaft Position Sensor Errors P0340 & P0011
So im reading alot of ppl are just swapping out tons of sensors, etc but never really finding out the right sensor or exact solution. Hopefully we can clear that up -
I have a 2003 350z and orgainally had the error code P0340 which is the pass side camshaft position sensor - i had all the common issues with the car stalling out, etc. So i purchased a new one from autopartstore - It fixed the problem and the car ran fine. Maybe 3-4 months later got a new code P0011 - which is the Intake Camshaft Position Timing - Over-Advanced (bank 1) -- I dont drive alot of miles normally and this is the same bank as last code and thinking maybe its that same sensor not being from OEM from the dealership. It currently idle high and oil pressure is high when it first starts up then it drops as the car warms up. Its summer in NY now so its not cold or below 70 outside.
Really hopeing someone been down this path and I dont just start randomly replacing sensors.
Thanks

Hopefully this info is helpful...
I experienced nearly the identical scenario you describe. The only difference is that I had a dealer repair on the first and second failure.
When my car began stalling, I went into the dealer who read code P0340, and replaced the camshaft position sensor. 2 to 3 months later I began experiencing the same stalling/starting problem. I took the car back to the dealer who stated that the replacement sensor was faulty and replaced it a second time. The dealer didn’t tell me what problem code they read (I don’t know if it matches your P0011 code).
The second replacement of the sensor fixed the problem. It’s been over a year now.
