Default 2003 no start

Car would randomly not start and I would have to depress the clutch pedal several times before it would start.

Yesterday it wouldn't start no matter what I did. I disconnected the clutch switch and jumped the connector and the car started. Tried removing the clutch switch to test it but the rear nut won't budge and the entire bracket flexes when I put pressure on the nut. It's a normal thread right - left to loosen?

In the afternoon I went to start the car again with the clutch switch still jumpered and nothing! The dash lights tuen on, the fuel pump primes but it does not crank. I lifted the car on stands, disconnected the starter connector and placed 12v directly and the car starts.

Where do I start troubleshooting? The ignition switch? Does this car have an immobilizer on the key? Should there be a cluster light that tells me if the key's chip is working properly? Thanks for any assistance!

What, if anything has been done to the car?

Does the car drive fine after you jump the starter?

Even if the immobilizer was acting up, the engine should still crank but wouldn't run. Since you car started using the other method, it means your NATS/Immobilizer is fine.

Almost sounds like a bad connection at a wire or the ignition switch is wearing out.

Ok, it seems that between the time I jumped the clutch switch and the car started and the 2nd time I tried starting the car with the switch still jumpered and it wouldn't start, the underhood 10A fuse with description "A/T Cont" blew. I replaced the fuse and the car started right up.

I just ordered an OEM clutch switch replacement online but in the meantime, do you guys think I'll continue to have fuse issues with the clutch switch jumpered or was this maybe a fluke?

I'm having the same issue. I assumed it was because my clutch was very worn. I replaced my clutch, flywheel all bearings and such then it stopped for a while. Now it's back to starting intermittently where sometimes if I slam the clutch down hard enough(way too hard for comfort) it will start. Let me know if replacing your clutch switch helps.
