Exclamation Brake lights turn on with headlights, but wait - There's more!

Good evening all,

Just so everyone is in the loop - I have a 2005 35th anniversary nissan 350z. Only thing not stock is the headlights, tail lights, and LED licence plate lights. Now that the formalities are finished, let's get into the ugly issues I'm having. I took my car to the body shop to get the rear bumper fixed, I left it there from Wednesday-Monday. Got the car and the rear bumper looked like nothing ever happened, my car was beautiful once again. I didn't notice the issues until later that night. Come to find out, my brake lights came on when I turned on my headlights(not DRL's), and I mean they stayed on, so if I pressed on the brakes, you couldn't tell. My rear left brake light is out, it won't cut on for anything. My remote start also does not work, not to mention when I press on the brakes my DRL's come on for however long I have the brakes pressed down. There's more though, not only this, but when I was driving on the interstate(and this only happened on the interstate) my ABS, Slip, and VDC Off lights came on and stayed on until I turned the vehicle off. There is still more! Not only are all these issues occuring, but my cruise control will not work either, I'll turn it on and "SET" keeps on blinking, it will not allow me to set a speed. One last thing, I promise this is it. Now, it's a 300HP car, so it moves when you floor it. For some reason, I will lay my foot ALL THE WAY DOWN, I'm talking pedal-to-the-metal and the RPM's slowly creep up, and when I switch gears and give it gas it jumps a little bit, it's like the throttle response is off. I am at a loss, I have no idea why this series of unfortunate events is happening now all of a sudden. It ran fine before I took it to the body shop, now everything seems to be going awry. Any input or possible solutions is greatly appreciated and I will look into each and every solution provided. I will keep everyone updated as to the status of my ailments. Thank you for reading all of this.

No one is going to be able to diagnose such problems remotely.

Sherm,

I recommend you start with the Service Manual and look for a common point for all your systems. It could be a computer unit, a common electrical connector, or something completely different. That common point would be a good place to start troubleshooting.

I would take the car back to the body shop and have them fix the problem. Since you did not have electrical problems before they did the body work, I suspect they shorted something during their work on the car.

Exactly not this^^^^^
. If you screw with it, the body shop will have an excuse to blame you. If there was an insurance company involved, let them know immediately.

Hey guys,

Thank you all for your input. We've found out what the issue was. There was a short in the back left LED tail light, the short was causing a back surge through the system causing everything to go awry. He unplugged the back left tail light to prevent the issue from persisting. So if anyone ever has this issue, please refer them to this post. It may not be the exact issue, however, it is a step in the right direction and will give people a sense of direction. Again, thank you all for your input. I just ordered new tail lights today and will install them tomorrow so I don't get pulled for not having a back right tail light.
