6MT trans issue
Issues
I've got an aftermarket warranty and plan on taking it into the Nissan dealership or another shop shortly. I have a few questions though..
Questions
and totally unrelated, but how much is it generally to repaint a front bumper? had an incident in a tight spot in a parking garage..
Edit: Is AAMCO a bad place to go for transmission work?
- Mechanical whir sound while in 1st gear
- Strong vibration in 1st coming from gearbox under hard accel
- If I go from 2nd to 6th after hard acceleration it'll grind, so synchros probably going out

Questions
- How do you check the 6MT trans fluid level? I'm worried that it could be low, and then they may refuse to honor the warranty
- Based on my symptoms..do you think the synchros is going out? Flywheel? First gear?
- How much do you think Nissan will charge to "diagnose" the issue? I have to pay that out of pocket, as well as taxes

-Jack up and support the Z level on four jackstands. Underneath the tranny, you'll find two plugs. One is to drain and the one on the side to fill. To check the correct fill level, remove the fill plug and feel with you finger. The fill level should be to the botton of the fill hole.
-Speculating on driveline problems does little good. Only a hands-on inspection (and possibly disassembly) will reveal the true nature of your problems.
-Nissan dealerships vary in their charges from state-to-state. Most will charge at least an hour of shop time to start the diagnostic. My local dealer charges $130/hr- you should ask about shop charges at your dealer.

Is AAMCO a bad idea for transmission work? I've heard bad things about them..
