Default Oil consumption, help?

I own an 05 z, I reached the 150k mark add off today and I changed the oil with filter. Previous oil changes I've noticed that I've been getting about 3 quarts out when I drain my oil. I noticed oil in one of my spark plus essential so I assumed that was the problem. Recently I took it to the dealer so they can change my passenger side valve cover and valve gaskets on both sides. I'm still getting about 3 quarts out. Any ideas on what it could be? Besides oil pan gasket? I noticed that a hose that connects to where the oil folder goes is a little wet. But any advise? And I also noticed that my oil guage jumps around a little when I'm driving. Could it just be yore sensor? Or hard to say?

Do you know how to use the dipstick? If your oil is low, add a quart. You should never let the oil get two quarts low.

Always check your oil first thing in the morning when the oil has had a chance to settle in the sump. Wipe the dispstick with a rag if you can't tell the level and reinsert to check it a second time.

As for the cause of your oil consumption, it depends on whether your Z is an early or late '05 production model. If you have a VQ revup, you'll have some inherent problems. But if it's a VQ35DE, you've probably got worn rings or valves. A leakdown test might establish how big a problem it is.

Re-reading your post it sounds like you've changed the cover already, which is a shame as the suggested fix below will outlast new covers I'm sure.

As others have suggested, leakdown test from a good mechanic...

I was going to suggest this:

Get a trusted mechanic to take out the rocker covers (valve covers) and remove/replace the gaskets/grommets with better ones, this is what I'm doing as my car drinks a little bit of oil as well. I top it up every few weeks, so it's really time to do this fix.
Note, just replacing the covers will only last for a certain time as the grommets will perish again.

I can't understand why people don't check their oil regularly...
