Default Engine Wiring Harness Interchangeable? 24012-CD201

Are engine harness interchangeable? I need to replace mine, so I called Turbo Toys and was told that engine wiring harness are vin specific, and was told to contact nissan with my vin and get the right part number. I was told by two different nissan dealers that I need part number 24012-CD201. Other then buying it directly from the dealer, I cant find the harness used anywhere. Can somebody tell me what the differences are in engine harnesses and why they cant be interchanged?

Throughout the Z33's production life, Nissan made small changes from year-to-year in order to improve the model. Based on feedback from the field, parts availability and actual design changes, the amount of information going back and forth to the ECM increased over time, and the harnesses had to change as well. The differences can range from 96 pinouts on the the '06 to over 120 on the '07 model Z. It's part of the continual improvement process and goes on with many other Nissan models as well.

Thank you for the reply. How many different type of ECM harnesses are there for the 2004 model year? Are all of these ECM harnesses for 2004 interchangeable?

There's a good liklihood the '04 harnesses remained uniform as the VQ35DE was the only engine being utilized at that time. That's not to say there couldn't have been minor differences, but I have no way to verify that.

Ask your local Nissan dealership for a little help on this one: different part #s indicate a significant change made during production.
