Water Leak
Hi Everyone,
I'm a newly proud Z owner from Hawaii!
It's been a month since I've had my girl but after some recent washes and during days of rain, I've notice a leak under my steering wheel dash area. I found where the water is coming from; through the interior wall, coming out of a black rubber circle. My friend and I tried masking the rubber circle's seal with marine glue (as another Z owner suggested), but the problem continues.
Has this happened to anyone? I'm opting to just take it into the dealership to repair but if this is an easy problem to fix, why not DIY!?
Thanks Z team!

Those firewall grommets are a pain to replace since they usually have wire looms running through them, which will all need to be disconnected and re-threaded through the replacements. Before you tried to re-seal the leaking grommet with marine glue, did you check to see if there was rust under it first? If so, the rusted metal is going to need to be cleaned and covered with something like POR-15 to stop the spread. I think the Z has an exceptionally long rust warranty, so you might want to check on that as well.
I've used kitchen and bath silicone caulk in the past to seal up leaking firewall grommets (not on my Z though since I haven't had that problem yet.) Whatever you use on the repair, be sure to give it enough time to fully cure. You usually have to gob that stuff on to seal up the leak.

Also, be sure to check the drains coming from the cowl area. If they get plugged up, that's when water tends to pool and accumulate. There are small holes near the back and corners that drain water, but can get clogged by dirt and debris, so make sure they get cleaned out.

If you have absolutely figured out where it's coming from/through, as suggested above using a silicone of some sort even the gasket maker silicone would work if applied right to keep water running off it.
also post pics for reference
I would refer you to courtesy Nissan parts to order a new one but the site seems to be down and it's tedious to replace.

Thank you so much guys, for all of your help and feedback.
I'll post pics later on today after work for reference.
But I'll also be sure to check everything out once again (firewall rust, cowl area, etc).
I'll post again soon, thanks a million!

My rear glass had a small leak... I used black 100% silicone... Can get like 10 oz tube for a calking gun for like $8.. Probably $12 in your neck of the woods... Worked like a charm.
