Exterior Door Handle fix problem
Hi there, I bought a 2004 Base Z for a reasonably cheap price ($6000USD) with the idea of fixing up a couple of minor problems and then selling it again. I like it so much though that I'm using it as a daily driver and don't want to give her up!
There's a couple of small problems that I've been dealing with. I changed the head unit and took out the clunky old GPS unit as well. I replaced the AC and Alternator belts. Today's mission is to swap out the broken Exterior passenger door handle, and to do a window motor reset on the drivers side door.
Anyway - I got the replacement part for the left hand door (which here in New Zealand, is the passenger door) but it was shipped from the USA, which meant is was for the drivers side door which has a keyhole on it. Now I have a keyhole with no lock. I can't find the part that I'm looking for, and Now I'm thinking it's probably better to just get a lock that doesn't actually connect to the locking mechanism - just to blank it off. Which part will I need to do this? - I can't find it on Amazon. The broken piece of the old door handle is connected to the entire exterior frame, so I can't just chop and change the pieces and make a working handle out of the old one. Frustrating!

Nissan isn't going to make a specific part to block off that lock cylinder hole, why would they? You'll probably have to fabricate something on your own, and try to find some paint to match, or maybe just paint it black to contrast the silver. You''ll probably be the only one to notice it.

I meant to buy a key cyclinder for the door and just not connect it to anything. I think the best thing to do is just find the outer cover of a key cylinder and just glue it to the inside of the handle.

lol sure
You can get the part numbers you need off Courtesy's website. They are relatively expensive, but at least you can search for exact part numbers on other sites rather than part descriptions.
