I know it sounds gay but I'm still questioning my dipstick.
The manual is very clear on the capacity of the VQ: 5 qts. with filter.
Since my garage is not level I let the car cool off a few hours somewhere flat. Dipstick read about 80% full right after dumping in 5 qts of Rotella T6 5W40 and a new K&N filter. I'm starting to think my dipstick is off another motor?

sounds like a personal problem...

are u using the just the Rotella jug?...because that is not 5qts (at last the ones available around here)

 

My HR will not read the correct oil level unless it is left overnight.

 

OP: What year is your car? The motor changed size in 2007.

 

For sure it's turning into personal stuff! Yes, I know the Rotella is 4 qts so I always add 1 extra. Thanks for mentioning, usually oil companies sell 5 qts jugs.

Maybe a few hours isn't enough, I'll try leaving it overnight and see.
