Driverside window won't come back up
I have intermittently been having the issue of the driverside window not coming back up. It goes down normally, then trying to get it back up either it doesn't do anything when i pull the switch up, or it tries to and then fails. I usually get it to come up after a few tries. Occasionally it works just fine the first time.
Is this the motor failing or is it the mechanisms that actually push it back up? I would think the motor is OK if it is working at all, and maybe there is buildup on the sliding mechanisms creating too much friction or something? Just spit balling here...can I diagnose the issue properly without taking apart the door?
Thanks

It seems like it is very meticulous and time-consuming. Although the DIY i saw didn't have an estimated time, some people said they took a couple days to do it. Any idea what it should take? If I'm gonna spend half a day doing it, i wouldn't mind buying the motor and having my trusted shop do it for me if they will be more efficient. Just seems like there are lots potential for plastic clips to break and screws/washers to get lost, dropping the window into the door, etc.
2-3 hours.... figure a shop is going to charge you about 100 an hour, plus markup the parts.
the only reason i had nissan do mine is because it was covered under the extended warranty.
i would get a motor from autozone that has lifetime warranty, if you get a cheap one you could possibly have to do it again sooner

Yea I'm thinking about this one:

Even the expensive one from Advance/O'Reilly for $140 has bad reviews.

It's a hassle replacing the window motor. I didn't want to replace this with a "cheepo" that might fail quickly. I replaced mine with one from Nissan, and it's worked fine for 7 years now.
