Hey guys, its about that mark where I do my oil change. Im using AmazonBasics full synthetic 5w-30 with K&N oil filter. Upon draining my oil, i noticed its foamy when draining from both plug and filter. Dipstick showed no foam and neither did fill cap. Is this something to be alarmed of? I have never had this issue and haven't experienced anything different in the way my Z runs. Its also taking a while to fully drain. Its been almost 10 mins and still keeps slowly draining.
Hmmm- that is strange. I've never seen that kind of foamy oil discharge on any of my Zs. How many miles did you run on this change? What kind of oil are you using to do the change this time?

I ran it for about 5000+
Figured it was synthetic so it could last a bit longer. I finished my oil change and struggling to get an accurate reading. I dont want to overfill. Currently, car has been idling close to 10 mins and gauge reads exactly 30 psi. Is that normal? When revving it, it goes 100+ psi. Im using 5w-30 again for oil change
I heard foaminess can happen when you overfill and now im paranoid I overfilled because I cant get an accurate reading. I filled it with maybe 4.5-4.7 quarts of oil (i say this because the amazon gallon doesnt have measurement)
I let the car drain for about 10 mins, it still kept coming out very slowly so I just put the plug back on and continued.
This was the best photo I can take. Im going to let it sit for a bit and try to get another reading.
Whats wrong with Amazon oil? I have heard nothing but great reviews
Never seen a UOA of Amazon synthetic in a VQ35DE or HR. There's a great thread with UOA results from different oils being used in a VQ, but nothing for Amazon. You could be the first. As far as checking your dipstick, wait overnight and check the level BEFORE starting the engine.

Im not understanding, I could be the first...for this to happen? And I will def check again in the morning. However im making a 2 hr drive tomorrow after school and I just want to be safe im good on oil level
a quite a few years ago my father inlaw had the oil changed on our rogue someplace and they used Kendall. Did the same crap. Normally use moble1 and never had this issue since. 1st oil change after the kendall the oil was extremely nasty. Took 3 full mobile changes before it was back to complete normal.
It's possible you overfilled it. I made this mistake one time and promptly corrected it. You may also have some contamination in there from another source.
I'd recommend not using that oil again and use something such as Mobile 1. If it does it with the M1 then you may have an underlying reason for it that needs to be addressed. If it doesn't then that oil was just garbage and needs to be disposed of.
Just because it's lying around doesn't mean you should use it. Hi-Point makes pistols, but I wouldn't buy one.
Stick with quality oil. it may save you from costly repairs in the future

Gotcha. Atleqst for right now. I currently did my change with more Amazon oil. I don't mind ordering some M1 and redoing my oil change. With that being said, I put about 4.5 qts of oil...Im going to try and get a reading but I am having trouble trying to ACCURATELY get one

Welp, looks like I'll be doing two oil changes within a week. Never had this issue before, I normally use Mobile 1 but as mentioned, I had this oil handy and decided to use it at the time.
