Default Do I Need OEM Ground Wire?

I have a 2006 G35 Coupe.

My battery terminals are causing a ton of problems recently, and my mechanic told me I should replace them. Do I need to use the OEM grounding cable, or can I use another one? Just asking because I don't want to spend 60$ on an OEM one if I don't have to.

Have you tried removing the OEM ground strap and cleaning it? Unless it's damaged, it's more important to clean the surfaces the hardware goes to and making sure the strap itself is clear of debris.

Try as DK mentioned above.

But to answer your question, no, you do not need OEM.

I have a cable I picked up at Autozone for just a few. Much more solid actually.

If your battery cables are green on the end you can bet the oxidation has already started creeping up inside the wire. I'm a fan of getting rid of anything you can that is oxidized, it's like rust- once it starts you've got it for life. Buy replacements (any rep brand will do) at rockauto.com, gl!
