Just bought a 2007 350z and after taking apart some stuff in the engine bay realized there was a puddle of green (my guess is washer fluid or coolant) under the battery that had pooled in the holder. Only drove the car home about an hour and the temps were fine, the coolant is definitely below the bottom line but nothing crazy on the reservoir tank. I’m kinda new to working on cars and not familiar with zs, any ideas? Thanks!

 

That's coolant, not washer fluid. Could be just leftover fluid from a change, but the only way to know is to clean it up and recheck for leaks.

 

It seems pretty unlikely for coolant to get in that area. Is there a chance that you have coolant in your washer fluid tank on accident??

 

so after cleaning up the engine bay the coolant was everywhere all over the entire bay.. I just bought the car so I would hope the previous owner didn’t do that but it wouldn’t surprise me lol.. should I get a pressure tester and try to find the leak?

 

After cleaning the whole engine bay everywhere had the coolant like everywhere.. could it have something to do with the radiator cap being faulty and spewing from there

 

The joys of a used car. Is it possible, yeah, but the amount that was in the battery tray doubtful

 

Personally I would check coolant hoses. A small pinhole can spray fluid everywhere.

Might wanna do a visual inspection too- as stated above, get the car up to normal temp, open the hood with it running, look for pin-hole sprays or even larger leaks. (After topping off radiator/overflow when cold). Gl.

 

After pressure testing the cooling system I found that the hoses leak a little at the ends but no spraying but the major issue is the radiator leaking at the top pretty good. Could this have caused the spraying effect that coated the entire engine bay or should I look somewhere else

 

Any recommendations on radiators and hoses?

 

Not sure of your skills or budget. OEM will be easiest for radiator- plug and play. But start here, all solid providers-

OEM or Z1 hoses should fit well and install easily. GL!

 

I just recently did the koyo rad swap on my HR. It was super easy. Hardest part is bleeding it once done.

This is the one I got.

 

i just bought the Koyo rad some hoses and the metal bleeder.. was gonna go with mishimoto but heard it wasn’t quite plug and play any problems installing the Koyo rad

 

Not a single one. I did have someone helping which made it much easier. The hardest part is dealing with the condenser and getting it lined up when reinstalling. That and spilled coolant, but both of those were expected going in. I find it easy to remove the front bumper because it takes about 5 minutes and greatly simplifies getting everything lined back up on install.

I personally would have monitored it before throwing parts at it, at most right now I would have done hoses and radiator cap

 

Did you notice the temperature gauge reading?

 

I’m gonna be drifting the car so no need to take chances at it overheating and spraying coolant. Like 500 in parts is well worth it to know I’ll have a nice cool car on track but if I was just Sunday driving it yeah would probably just watch it.. when I drove it last time the temps were fine but I definitely wasn’t driving it hard at all
