Eh, not sure what to title the thread.

Car died on the highway several months ago. Figured it was the alternator, which the tow company also "confirmed". Anyways, the car has been sitting for a while and I just decided to buy a new battery as well...

Brand new battery, but only the hazards work. No other signs of electrical anything. No blinkers, no stereo, no lock mechanism, and obviously the car won't turn over.

 

Fusible Link replaced and new battery installed. Car now starts, but almost immediately smelled like electrical or plastic burning. Shut it down after 1-2 mins because I was afraid of starting a fire. Can't pinpoint the cause of the smell in the engine bay. Any ideas? Keep in mind this thing has sat for almost a year.
