Hi, have a 2007 350Z here. Once my car is warmed up, my oil gauge stays in this range. Does anyone have any idea what might be causing this? Air filter is good. Oil and transmission fluid is good. No lights on. When I took it to Nissan to diagnose, it didn't pull any codes so they have no idea either. My next thought process would be to change out the spark plugs, as I don't think they've been done since I bought the car and I've def put 100,000 miles on it since then.

Edit: Forgot to add that I started noticing this because when I press on the gas my RPM needle jumps slightly when it hits 1. You can feel this as the car stops getting gas for like half a second and then it picks back up. When I'm driving, oil gauge hops back up to around 60 and stays there until I start slowing down.

Oh geeze… that sounds like something someone more mechanically-inclined than myself can do.

 

Honestly, that doesn't look terribly low. After it's warmed up and at operating temperature, at idle it should be at least 14 PSI. At 2,000 RPM and higher, it shoulder be 43 PSI and higher. If you're at 60 PSI when driving under normal load, then you should be fine.

You don't think the half-second of kickback or so is an issue? To be honest, I only started noticing it a couple of weeks ago but maybe it's been happening for longer and I've just been deaf to it.

 

I'm not quite sure I know what you mean with the kickback or RPM jump. I imagine it's hard to describe with words. But if it feels like it's missing, and coupled with the fact you've put 100K miles on your plugs, I'd say those are due.

But as for the oil psi, I don't think it looks bad.

 

I would agree. Even with the oem gauge not being the best, I'd say that pressure looks normal for being at idle and warmed up. At some point you might have to deal with gallery gaskets, but probably fine for now. Change your plugs and see if it helps with the rpm issue you're describing.
